County Mediator Training
Our Next Class
Our next County Mediation Training class will be held ONLINE, 830AM – 6PM, January 13 - 15, 2024. The cost is $599 ($499 if registered by December 14, 2023 - only available for online registrants).
Training Summary
This 24-hour training program combines lecture, discussion, and role-playing to promote comprehensive understanding and practical skills development for the mediator selected/ordered to mediate a county action. Among the topics and subject matter covered:
- Negotiation Skills
- Dealing with Attorneys in Mediation
- Court Processes
- Developing Options for Mutual Gain
- Mediation Communication
- Mediating in Difficult Situations
- Mediator Ethics & Confidentiality
- Drafting Mediated Settlement Agreements
- Dealing with Pro Se (i.e., Unrepresented) Participants
- Mediator Certification and Discipline
The "Fine Print"
Trainee cancellations more than two weeks prior to the class start date will be subject to a 25% cancellation fee, unless applied towards tuition for the next subsequent training; trainee cancellations on less notice (including, without limitation, failure to attend class) will be subject to a 100% cancellation fee; requests for waiver of the cancellation fee due to emergency will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Attendance substitutions are permitted on at least 24 hours’ notice prior to the start date of the class. Enrollment is limited to 30 participants per course; sign up early to reserve your spot. Less than minimum enrollment may lead to postponement; registration fees previously collected may be applied to the next training offered or a refund will be granted without penalty.
Continuing Legal Education Credits
This course has been approved by the Florida Bar (Course No. 2301090N) for 29.0 CLE credits, which includes: 3.0 Ethics CLE; 0.5 of Bias Elimination CLE; and 0.5 Technology CLE.
